About The Position

This role focuses on facilitating the safe, smooth, and efficient performance of complex pediatric surgical procedures within the Main Operating Room at Ascension Dell Children's Hospital. The Certified Surgical Technologist will prepare operating suites using strict aseptic techniques, arrange sterile drapes, solutions, and instruments, and pass requested items to surgeons during procedures. The position also involves assisting surgical teams with patient preparation and positioning, maintaining an organized sterile field, and performing accurate instrument and sponge counts.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Cross accepted.
Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date OR Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
1 year Pediatric CST experience

Responsibilities

Facilitate the safe, smooth, and efficient performance of complex pediatric surgical procedures.
Prepare operating suites using strict aseptic techniques, arranging sterile drapes, solutions, and appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
Passes requested instruments, sutures, and supplies directly to surgeons during procedures with precision and anticipation of steps.
Assist surgical teams with safe preparation, transportation, positioning, and draping of pediatric patients.
Maintain an organized sterile field and continuously monitor, track, and perform accurate instrument and sponge counts throughout operations.
