To assist in the delivery of aspects of health care in a clinical capacity based on the needs of the client and standards of operating room care. This role involves assisting anesthesia, surgeons, and associates with procedural related tasks, monitoring instruments/equipment for processing, and carrying out established procedures for cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilization. The technician will provide assistance in the order of priority and re-prioritize as designated by the director or designee, and judiciously use supplies. They will support client care by responding to and reporting changes in delegated aspects of care, and facilitate planning and adjusting provisions of patient care per request. Collaboration with colleagues to revise preference cards, instrument sets, and supply pull sheets is expected, as is accepting and delegating tasks appropriately to promote teamwork. The role requires maintaining a professional environment, exemplifying excellent guest relations, and collaborating as a member of the operative team to enhance patient flow. Patient safety is paramount, involving the cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of all instruments, metal goods, and equipment, as well as adherence to HIPAA and social media policies. Verification of medications/supplies on the sterile field and reporting any breaks in sterile field activities are crucial. Professional development includes maintaining knowledge of anatomy and instruments/equipment, sharing knowledge with colleagues, demonstrating leadership, and identifying professional needs for learning opportunities. Customer service involves establishing strong relationships with physicians, provider practices, anesthesia, and the public, practicing AIDET, and promoting commitment to co-workers.
