About The Position

Valley Hospital Medical Center, a 306-bed acute care facility located in the Las Vegas Medical District, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician - First Assist. Requirements

  • Technical School/2 Years College / Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology, or program board eligible for SFA certification.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of surgical tech experience.
  • Continuing education programs to maintain and enhance clinical competencies related to perioperative or First Assisting practice.
  • Current CSFA certification (through NBSTSA), CSA (through NSAA), or SA-C certification (through ABSA). Certification must be maintained for employment.
  • Current American Heart Association (BLS).
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patient.

  • Five to eight (5-8) years of surgical tech experience

Responsibilities

  • Assists surgeons with exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions to ensure a safe operation with optimal patient outcomes.
  • Attends to patients' direct care needs under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Accepts responsibility for personal integrity regarding maintenance and compliance with policies.
  • Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and other team members based on the requirements of the surgical procedure.
  • Demonstrates and maintains dexterity for successful completion of assistant duties in each procedure.
  • Maintains a professional attitude respecting patient dignity, privacy, and safety.
  • Functions within the limits of personal ability and the scope of practice defined by medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and state law.
