About The Position

Valley Hospital Medical Center, a 306-bed acute care facility located in the Las Vegas Medical District, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician - First Assist. Requirements

Technical School/2 Years College / Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology, or program board eligible for SFA certification.
Three to five (3-5) years of surgical tech experience.
Continuing education programs to maintain and enhance clinical competencies related to perioperative or First Assisting practice.
Current CSFA certification (through NBSTSA), CSA (through NSAA), or SA-C certification (through ABSA). Certification must be maintained for employment.
Current American Heart Association (BLS).
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patient.

Five to eight (5-8) years of surgical tech experience

Responsibilities

Assists surgeons with exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions to ensure a safe operation with optimal patient outcomes.
Attends to patients' direct care needs under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Accepts responsibility for personal integrity regarding maintenance and compliance with policies.
Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and other team members based on the requirements of the surgical procedure.
Demonstrates and maintains dexterity for successful completion of assistant duties in each procedure.
Maintains a professional attitude respecting patient dignity, privacy, and safety.
Functions within the limits of personal ability and the scope of practice defined by medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and state law.
