About The Position

A clinically competent surgical technologist works under the supervision of the registered nurse in delivering safe and effective care to the patient in the intra-operative period. Effectively interacts with patients and health care team members, while maintaining surgical department standards. Works efficiently with acutely ill patients, including emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program, Associates Degree.
  • Current BLS certification (must complete prior to end of orientation period).
  • Must hold and maintain a certification from an accredited Surgical Technologist program OR have successfully completed training in an appropriate Surgical Technology program in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard OR have been employed to practice Surgical Technology as a primary job in another health care facility within the past two years OR obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • Ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs and care of all patient populations.
  • Technical and mechanical ability.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures and techniques.
  • Sound judgment.
  • Ability to follow orders.
  • Ability to deal with crisis, emergencies and stress situations.
  • Interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience preferred.
  • Keeps current with surgical procedures.
