Come work at our ambulatory surgery center in the VCU Short Pump Pavilion: Monday - Friday day shift hours. No holidays, weekends, or call! The Ambulatory Surgery Center offers outpatient surgical services that don't require an overnight stay in a hospital. Orthopedics, urology, plastics, gynecology, surgical oncology, colon and rectal, as well as ear, nose and throat are just some of the specialties represented at the center. Patients benefit from the latest techniques, including minimally invasive, diagnostic and preventative procedures that allow patients to safely and comfortably recover from surgery in their own homes. The Surgical Technologist II (operating room scrub technician) sets up sterile field, gathers supplies for surgical cases, based on knowledge of instruments and equipment to be used. This position passes instruments to surgeons during surgery. This position also performs count procedures per policy during surgical cases. The Surgical Technologist II serves as a resource and preceptor to less experienced Surgical Technologists and takes call for routine and high acuity cases after the orientation period. This role also learns, performs and completes assignments/responsibilities assigned during the transitional duty period.
