About The Position

The Surgical Technologist (certified or licensed) serves as a member of the surgical team, responds to patient needs, prepares and maintains resources (e.g., equipment, instruments, supplies) and provides safe, quality health care services and/or assistance for surgical procedures in accordance with level of experience, education, policies/procedures/protocols and standards. This role is part-time and located at Ten Mile Surgery Center. The Surgical Technologist supports the total peri-operative process by providing intra-operative patient care, anticipating surgeon's needs, maintaining a safe and clean operating room, assisting with documentation, performing essential duties and techniques appropriate to the role, and participating in quality improvement processes. The position requires adherence to Trinity Health's mission, values, vision, and code of conduct, as well as applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Current certification from accredited Surgical Technology program
  • At least one (1) year experience in a health care or military medical setting
  • Meets requirements for applicable state(s) of engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the surgical team.
  • Responds to patient needs.
  • Prepares and maintains resources (e.g., equipment, instruments, supplies).
  • Provides safe, quality health care services and/or assistance for surgical procedures.
  • Performs clinical care activities (direct or indirect) for patients within the scope of practice laws and training received.
  • Cares for patients safely by assisting in clinical care services or engaging in administrative activities that enhance or improve coordination, preparation, and flow of the care experience.
  • Supports the total peri-operative process.
  • Provides intra-operative patient care to patients as directed by the Director of Nursing / Medical Director / Quality Committee(s).
  • Anticipates surgeon’s needs in the use of medical supplies, instrumentation & equipment availability & readiness.
  • Maintains a safe & clean operating room suite.
  • Assists & / or ensures documentation & detailed records are kept.
  • Performs essential duties & techniques appropriate to role / function / procedure.
  • Participates in quality improvement processes.
  • May serve as a resource (lead), role model & / or mentor.
