Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - Operating Room, Open Heart (CVOR)
About The Position
Under the direct supervision of the surgeon and the Circulating Nurse and overall direction of the Assistant Managers, OR Manager, Director of Surgical Services and Vice President of Patient Care Services the Certified Surgical Technician (CST) assists in the nursing care and presentation of the surgical patient. The CST handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure, has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. The CST has the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Requirements
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST)
- BLS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience within a Surgical Technician role or completion of a hands-on Surgical Tech training/course
Responsibilities
- Assists in the nursing care and presentation of the surgical patient.
- Handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
- Anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
- Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure.
- Maintains vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field.
