About The Position

This role is in the Operating Room at Dell Seton Medical Center-UT. The Certified Surgical Tech will prepare the surgical suite with sterile drapes, solutions, and the appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies to ensure a safe environment. They will anticipate the surgeon's needs by efficiently handing over required instruments, medication, and supplies during the procedure. The role also involves safely assisting in preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients to ensure comfort, dignity, and proper surgical access. Maintaining instruments in a meticulous, organized manner while strictly monitoring and tracking component counts throughout the procedure to prevent retained objects is crucial. A vigilant focus on aseptic technique and situational awareness is required to maximize overall patient safety and operating room efficiency.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Cross accepted required.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
