About The Position

Texas Health Dallas is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech Specialist, CST (PRN) for the Perot Surgery department. This role involves assisting in a variety of surgical services including Bariatric, Gastrointestinal Colectomy, Ophthalmology, Neuro/Spine, Orthopedics, Oncology, and General Surgery. Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009. Required Or Other Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, vocational nurse program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology required
  • 2 years recent experience in a surgical service specialty (robotics) with a minimum of 150 cases performed in that specialty. Required
  • CST – Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS‑C (NCCT)
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program, or Employed to practice Surgical Technology in a healthcare facility prior to September 1, 2009, or Graduate/completion of a military training program in Surgical Technology or LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire Req
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Upon Hire Required

Nice To Haves

  • Scrubbing experience preferred
  • Experience in Robotic, GYN, Plastics, and Breast Oncology procedures preferred

Responsibilities

  • Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
  • Prepare and organize the operating room.
  • Assists in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Assists as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
  • Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Under supervision, assists RN circulators with post-operative duties.
