About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Certified Surgical Tech specializing in OrthoSports, working Monday-Friday. The role involves facilitating safe and efficient surgical procedures, preparing the operating suite, managing instruments, and assisting with patient preparation and positioning. The position is located at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham.

Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor/track instruments counts throughout procedures.
