About The Position

The Surgical Technologist extern reports to the nurse manager. Under direct supervision of the Certified Surgical Tech/Scrub nurse, the extern functions as a member of the operating room team to prepare sterile supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures and perform appropriate room duties involved with direct patient care, adhering to established procedural guidelines. This position demonstrates knowledge and skills required to provide care and service appropriate to the level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patients' families.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Must be a student of an accredited program of surgical technology who has completed two semesters, going into third clinical rotation.
• New graduates must obtain certification within 90 days of graduation.
• A current CPR card is required; either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card required.
