About The Position

Our close-knit Labor & Delivery unit is looking for an experienced CST to join our team! This role involves assisting in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics. The position requires assisting the RN circulator in formulating the plan of care, coordinating patient care peri-operatively, and assuming responsibility and accountability for behavior to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. Post-operatively, the role includes following proper procedures for the care of instruments, supplies, and equipment, and assisting the RN circulator with post-operative duties under supervision. The role also involves assisting in delivering nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of infection and accidental contamination, protects the patient from injury, and emphasizes continually improving quality, service, and cost-effectiveness. Care provided must demonstrate competence in assisting with age-appropriate patient care specific to the unique physiological and anatomical aspects of life from the very young to the older adult.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009.
Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, vocational nurse program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology.
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist graduate of an accredited surgical tech program Upon Hire Req
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009 Upon Hire Req
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon Hire Req
LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire Req
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Upon Hire Required

Responsibilities

Assist in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics
Preoperatively assist R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care
Assist as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and assume responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice
Post-operatively follow proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment.
Under supervision, assist RN circulator with post-operative duties
Assists in the delivering of nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection and accidental contamination.
Assists in delivering care in a manner which protects the patient from injury.
Care is provided with an emphasis on continually improving quality, service and cost effectiveness.
Demonstrates competence in assisting with the performance of age appropriate patient care that is specific to the unique physiological and anatomic aspects of life from the very young to the older adult.
