About The Position

This role involves assisting operating room staff in preparing for surgical cases, positioning and preparing patients for procedures, and maintaining the highest standards of sterile technique. The Certified Surgical Scrub Tech will anticipate the surgeon's needs by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, sponging or suctioning the operative site, and assisting with suturing. Additionally, the role includes applying post-operative dressings and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have active National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) CST certification or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C).

Responsibilities

  • Assist operating room staff in preparing for each surgical case.
  • Help position and prepare patient for surgical procedure, including positioning, tourniquet application, assisting with draping, and establishing the sterile field.
  • Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
  • Participate in the surgical site and patient verification during the time out procedure.
  • Secure tubing, cords, and other sterile accessories.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies during the procedure.
  • Hold retractors or instruments as directed by the surgeon.
  • Sponge or suction the operative site.
  • Cut suture material as directed by the surgeon.
  • Assist surgeon with suturing of incision site.
  • Apply post-operative dressing, splint/cast when necessary, or any DME items requested by the surgeon.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
