About The Position

Our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Short Pump offers outpatient surgical services that allow patients to safely and comfortably recover from surgery in their own homes. The center offers outpatient surgical services that don't require an overnight stay in a hospital. Orthopedics, urology, plastics, gynecology, surgical oncology, colon and rectal, as well as ear, nose and throat are some of the specialties represented at the center. Patients benefit from the latest techniques, including minimally invasive, diagnostic and preventative procedures. Schedule: Monday-Friday day shift hours with no holidays, no weekends, and no call! The Certified Surgical First Assistant in a surgical operation is an advanced trained and certified individual who is able to participate in and actively assist the surgeon in completing the operation safely and expeditiously by helping to provide exposure, maintain hemostasis, and other technical functions.

Requirements

  • CSFA (Certified Surgical First Assist) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • Current CSFA certification
  • Current AHA, BLS, HCP Certification
  • Experience as a Surgical Technologist or as a CSFA
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program, military training program, Master of Surgical Assisting Degree, or LPN

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  • One or more years of experience as CSFA
  • Experience at a Level 1 or 2 Trauma Center
  • Experience in cardiac, robotics, vascular, orthopedics, neurosurgery, transplant surgery

Responsibilities

  • Assists in operations under the direction of the surgeon to make incisions and close surgical sites, manipulate or remove tissues, implant surgical devices or drains, suction the surgical site, place catheters, clamp or cauterize vessels or tissue, and apply dressings to surgical site.
