About The Position

This position provides assistance to the surgeon during operative procedures. The Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) is responsible for providing visualization of the operative site, assisting with hemostasis, closure of body planes, wound dressing application, securing drainage systems, and participating in volume replacement or auto transfusion techniques. The role also involves assisting with patient positioning, skin preparation, anticipating surgeon's needs, maintaining confidentiality, and ongoing self-development. This is a PRN (as needed) position with variable shifts in the Operating Room.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) Surgical First Assistant program
  • Current certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)
  • Knowledge of the principles of aseptic technique and perioperative policies and procedural guidelines
  • BLS certified within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Operating Room experience or training within the last three years preferred

Responsibilities
