About The Position

The Surgical First Assistant is responsible for the delivery of professional, safe and quality patient care within the operative suite. Under direct guidance and/or supervision of the primary operative surgeon, assists in completing the operation safely and expeditiously by helping to provide exposure, maintain hemostatic and serve other technical functions. In addition, the Surgical First Assistant participates in the daily activities of the department as an active team member.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program required
  • Current Certification from: CSFA - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required
  • 1 year of verifiable work experience as a Surgical First Assistant required

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of verifiable work experience as a Surgical First Assistant preferred
  • Previous verifiable work experience in an acute care facility operating room in collaboration with the surgical team preferred

Responsibilities

  • Continuous training and education in new technology, equipment, instrumentation, and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge and skills to work with multiple surgical specialties and procedures.
