About The Position

Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a nonprofit health care organization dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare to individuals facing access barriers through clinical programs and education. We offer integrated health services, including medical, dental, and behavioral health, across 22 outpatient health centers. Our organization employs over 800 individuals and serves more than 81,500 patients annually in the Pikes Peak and East Central regions of Colorado. This role is responsible for supporting clinic operations by ensuring the proper care and handling of all Dental and Medical Clinic instrumentation. This includes receiving, cleaning, decontaminating, packaging, and redistributing instrumentation to specified clinics in accordance with established guidelines and recommendations. The position requires excellent communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, proactive, and upbeat environment, possessing critical thinking skills relevant to Sterile Processing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • 1 year of previous experience in Sterile Processing or Dental Assistant with sterilization experience required.
  • Active certification of CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from IAHCSMM or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician) from CBSPD or Certified Dental Assistant with sterilization experience required.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age or older to be an eligible driver on behalf of Peak Vista.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Must meet and maintain driver criteria as prescribed by Peak Vista’s insurance underwriter.
  • Active certification of CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from HSPA or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician) from CBSPD or Certified Dental Assistant with sterilization experience required.
  • CPR Certification to be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Intermediate ability to access the intra/internet to manage timecard, review policies and procedures, and read company communications; use e-mail to communicate with co-workers, leadership, and other departments; use and create a variety of templates, complex tables, merges; manage table data, sort and filter merges, and also perform basic work with existing Macros; customize toolbars, import and insert graphs, embed Excel data, and elaborate reports; work with multiple worksheets, filter data, use integrate functions, and manipulate databases; customize templates and the PowerPoint environment, and to make a presentation interactive by using hyperlinks and action buttons.
  • Constantly stand and walk.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Documents and maintains records for all sterilization processes, including quality control testing, sterilization, and maintenance.
  • Maintains departmental organization and cleanliness.
  • Conducts appropriate sterilization cycles needed in accordance with instrument manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Maintains accurate tracking/documentation for all clinic instrumentation received and distributed.
  • Maintains records of continuing education.
  • Provides appropriate communication and tags any instrumentation or equipment removed from service.
  • Verifies cleanliness of instrumentation and assembles in accordance with instructions.
  • Prioritizes daily tasks and clinic deliveries.
  • Provides appropriate communication for needed supplies.
  • Assists with clinic instrument transportation when needed.
  • Works weekends and/or alternate shifts as necessary.
  • Performs tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the department manager.
  • Ability to travel inside and outside of the Colorado Springs area.
