About The Position

This role is for a Certified Sterile Processing Technician at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, IN. The position is full-time, with evening hours from 3pm to 11:30pm, and includes rotating weekend and holiday call. The technician will be responsible for operating sterilization equipment, inspecting instruments, performing decontamination, correcting instrument sets, maintaining inventory levels, and conducting quality assurance audits.

Requirements

• Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).

Responsibilities

• Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
• Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
• Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
• Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
• Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
