Responsible for the proper care and handling of all general and specialty instruments including the cleaning, decontamination, instrument identification, assembly, packaging and distribution, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation. This role involves maintaining a clean and safe environment, adhering to Standard Precautions and Infection Control practices, and utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The technician will follow manufacturer's Instructions for Use (IFU) for decontamination processes, identify and ensure the proper function of instruments, and assemble and package instrumentation sets according to department protocol. They will operate various sterilization equipment, maintain logs and records, and respond to problem calls from the Operating Room, determining priority levels for instrumentation and equipment requests. The position requires performing all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and professional standards, while providing excellent customer service.
