The Certified Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for performing scanning of instrument trays for location and creation of count sheet/label, demonstrating proper assembly, wrapping/containing, and decontamination techniques for instrument trays. This role involves using automated cleaners, ultrasonic washers, and instrument washers, as well as performing tests to ensure proper operation of equipment. The technician will also operate sterilizers according to manufacturer instructions and department policy, monitor procedures, and scan/deliver items to the proper storage place. Effective utilization of infection control concepts, safe handling of chemical and cleaning agents, and knowledge of procedures for chemical spills or related injuries are essential. Safety precautions when operating washers and sterilizers, safe lifting techniques, and proper handling of instruments are also key responsibilities. The role includes processing and distribution of special medical emergency carts and Urology carts, monitoring supplies, and assisting Service Window customers. Other duties as assigned.
