Responsible for the proper care and handling of all general and specialty instruments including the cleaning, decontamination, instrument identification, assembly, packaging and distribution, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation. This role involves maintaining a clean and safe environment, adhering to Standard Precautions and Infection Control practices, and utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The technician will follow manufacturer's Instructions for Use (IFU) and hospital policies for decontamination and sterilization processes. They will also identify instruments, ensure proper function, and manage repairs or replacements. The role requires operating various sterilizing equipment and maintaining accurate logs and records. Additionally, the technician will respond to problem calls from the Operating Room, determine priority levels for requests, and ensure timely completion of OR priorities. All functions must be performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and professional standards, while providing excellent customer service.
