About The Position

River Hospital is seeking a per diem Sterile Processing Technician to join our Ambulatory Surgical Unit Team. The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for maintaining high standards for decontamination, assembly, inspecting, wrapping and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment (endoscopes) for Surgical Services and all Ancillary Departments in the facility. This includes working in conjunction with the OR staff to provide timely sterile products, trays and case carts where applicable. The Sterile Processing Technician maintains consistency and continuous workflow between the OR and Sterile Processing while practicing above average customer service. Attends to specific daily needs of the patients as delegated by the Charge Nurse. Responsible for clerical duties under the supervision of the Charge Nurse.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician program or Surgical Tech/OR program, required
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician Credential (CRCST), CSPDT, or CST credential, required
  • Must possess the physical ability to perform CPR.
  • Must have successfully passed a nationally accredited central service exam and hold and maintain the required credential.
  • Must comply with all requirements outlined by the New York State Office of Professions for the particular profession.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in Sterile Processing or Surgical Tech experience, highly preferred.
