About The Position

Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is seeking a CERTIFIED SPECIAL INSPECTOR with 2-5 years of relevant test experience for work in the Greater Philadelphia area. The Special Inspector will verify construction is being completed in accordance with all plans and specifications, carry out inspections, sampling and testing, and coordinate with clients, general contractors, and GTA Project Managers. This role involves recording and documenting construction in daily field reports, contributing to the generation of technical reports and special inspection summaries, and overseeing, training, and mentoring junior/less-experienced staff.

Requirements

  • At least one of the following: ICC Certifications (Soils, Masonry, Fireproofing, Structural Steel Welding, Structural Steel Bolting, Reinforced Concrete, etc.)
  • At least one of the following: ACI Certified Construction Special Inspector (CCS), ACI CCS, ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I, ACI/CRSI Certificate for Post-Installed Concrete Anchor Installation Inspector.
  • Special Inspection of Firestopping
  • At least one of the following: P.E., E.I.T, P.G., G.I.T.
  • At least one of the following: NICET Level I, II, III or IV (Geotechnical Engineering Technology Construction)
  • At least one of the following: NICET Level I, II, III or IV (Soils Certificate in Construction Materials Testing)
  • AWS or CWI
  • American Society of Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) Level II or III
  • Register as a Special Inspector with Philadelphia License and Inspection (L&I) ECLIPSE program.
  • Own reliable transportation, valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Visa sponsorship not available)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willing to travel and work in the Tri-State Area (PA, NJ, DE) and in the City of Philadelphia
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unaided and up to 100 lbs. with assistance; frequent bending, hammering and other repetitious movements
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe

Responsibilities

  • Verify construction is being completed in accordance with all plans and specifications
  • Carry out inspections, sampling and testing
  • Coordinate with clients, general contractors, and GTA Project Managers
  • Record and document the construction in daily field reports
  • Contribute to the generation of technical reports and special inspection summaries
  • Oversee, train, and mentor junior/less-experienced staff
