About The Position

Kokua Education is seeking certified Special Education Substitute Teachers in Philadelphia, PA, for the 2026-27 school year. This role offers the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn up to $216 per day, and make a significant impact on students' lives. Kokua aims to place positive role models in classrooms who spark a love for learning and help students realize their potential. The position provides weekly paychecks, W-2 employment, and opportunities for a path to full-time roles in K-12 schools across the Philadelphia area. Support is available daily from 6 am to 8 pm, and the role encourages adding representation in classrooms through unique experiences.

Requirements

Hold a Special Education Certification in the state of Pennsylvania.
Completed a Bachelor's Degree.
At least 6 months working with students in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, etc.).
Feel confident managing a classroom of students.
Pass state & federal background checks.
Believe every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a special education setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Substitute teach in K-12 schools across the Philadelphia area.
Manage a classroom of students.
Step in where needed, including lunch/recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season.
