About The Position

Kokua is seeking certified Special Education substitute teachers for the 2026-27 school year to support schools in the Brownsville area. The role involves creating impactful moments for students, helping them realize their potential, and contributing to the community by addressing the teacher shortage crisis. Substitute teachers will have the flexibility to work up to 5 days a week, choose assignments and locations they are excited about, and add valuable representation in the classroom through their unique experiences. Kokua offers weekly paychecks, a quick hiring process, and the opportunity to gain experience in high-performing K-12 schools. Requirements

• 1+ year(s) classroom teaching experience, preferably in a special education setting.
• Texas Teacher Certification in Special Education (EC-12) - proof of valid certification required.
• Confidence to manage a classroom of students.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Willingness to commute to Brownsville for teaching assignments.
• Strong belief that every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world.
• Ability to pass state & federal background checks.
