About The Position

This role involves assisting pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy under their supervision, adhering to state, federal, and company policies. The position requires engaging with customers, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive customer experience. Key responsibilities include utilizing pharmacy systems for data entry, filling prescriptions, managing inventory, processing insurance claims, and potentially assisting with clinical services and community outreach. The role also involves coaching other pharmacy staff and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment.

Requirements

PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico).
Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy, Health System Pharmacy locations, or in locations where this role is covered under a collective bargaining agreement)

Nice To Haves

Prior work experience with Walgreens.
Basic math skills (counting, measuring and weighing medications).
Basic level PC skills (for example: start up and shut down computer, use mouse to point and click, start and close programs, switch between programs, save files, print documents and/or access information online).
Knowledge of store inventory control.

Responsibilities

Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
Assist in the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information correctly.
Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine accuracy, and checking for potential interactions.
Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services and perform other clerical duties.
Lead Pharmacy Department inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse discrepancies.
Assist in analyzing and improving pharmacy financial, customer service, and inventory performance data.
May assist in administering clinical services, including sample collection and labeling, and coordination of clinical services.
Assist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community.
Support the execution of the Pickup program.
Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
Coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the correct use of processes and tools to drive efficiency.
Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Maintain PTCB or ExCPT certification through the designated training program and/or state required certification/registration.
Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits.
Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
