About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist (RT) is responsible for conducting, performing, and analyzing diagnostic and function tests at both basic and advanced levels of therapeutic procedures. Respiratory Care Practitioners work alongside physicians and nurses to create treatment plans and evaluate the progress of treatment through the use of aerosol medications and chest physiotherapy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and be a graduate of a Respiratory Care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation Respiratory Care or having passed a National Board Respiratory Care Exam or its equivalent.
  • Current Licensure as a Certified Respiratory Therapist, Basic Life Support, ACLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program

  • Previous respiratory therapy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and examine patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.
  • Perform diagnostic tests, such as pulmonary function tests, to assess lung capacity.
  • Consult with physicians to develop treatment plans.
  • Treat patients using a variety of methods, such as aerosol medications, chest physiotherapy, and inhalants.
  • Teach patients how to take medications and use equipment.
  • Manage equipment and devices needed to help people who can't breathe normally on their own.
  • Monitor and record patients' progress.
  • Work with other members of the medical team to complete discharge planning.
