About The Position

HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital is seeking a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will conduct basic physician prescribed treatments and demonstrate competence in respiratory equipment related to respiratory care-based practice, operate and maintain respiratory care equipment, administer patient care, and document the practice activity in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR) at the required level of competence in accordance with scope of practice, departmental policies and procedures, HIPAA standards, and quality assurance guidelines. Position Specifics • Department: Respiratory • Core Function; Rehab/Therapy/Sleep • Schedule: Full time: 36 hours/week, Nights (5:45pm-6:15am) and a weekend rotation • Facility: St. Elizabeth’s Hospital • Locations: Openings in O'Fallon, IL

Requirements

  • Diploma or an Associate's degree in respiratory therapy from an Accredited Respiratory Care Education Program is required.
  • 3 years of professional respiratory care experience is required.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required.
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of practice is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are required based on patient population and assigned clinical areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy from an Accredited Respiratory Care Education Program is preferred.
  • Specialty credential through NBRC is preferred (Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS), Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS), Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS), Asthma Educator Specialist (AE-C), Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT)).
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through the BRPT may also be accepted as an alternative specialty credential.
