About The Position

This position is within the Respiratory Department at UAB St. Vincent’s St Clair. The role is PRN (as needed) and focuses on providing evaluation and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies. Responsibilities include assessing patients, developing and implementing care plans, monitoring patient condition and equipment, performing advanced respiratory care, and educating patients and families. The role also involves equipment maintenance, inventory management, and responding to emergency calls.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Licensed Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Alabama Board of Respiratory Therapy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Certified Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.

Responsibilities

Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis.
Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment.
Monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provide information about community support groups and other available programs.
Assist with care, calibration and maintenance of all equipment.
Participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment.
Process equipment per established cleaning/sterilization procedures.
Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls
