About The Position

Rehab Without Walls Neuro Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) / Vocational Counselor for a PRN position in Austin, TX. This role focuses on supporting individuals with complex neurological injuries to achieve maximal independence, community participation, and vocational success. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in rehabilitation counseling, community resource coordination, and functional reintegration within home and community settings. The position offers a flexible schedule, clinical autonomy, and a collaborative, team-based approach.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of any/all required pre-employment evaluation test(s) per policy in each assigned area of practice.

  • Ability to function with minimum supervision.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or the equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years vocational counseling experience with individuals with neurological impairments.
  • Knowledge of complex neurologic injury and orthopedic rehabilitation techniques.
  • Maintain professional license and/or certification as required by the state in which the therapist practices.
  • Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the work/educational history, interest, aptitude, ability, and physical skill of individuals served in relation to their vocational potential and necessary training. Develop vocational rehabilitation treatment plans with the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team based on evaluation results and client goals.
  • Administer direct treatment using vocational rehabilitation techniques, setting up programs to build necessary skills for individuals to progress towards the highest level of independent functioning, with an emphasis on vocational pursuits.
  • Design pre-vocational programs to measure the current skill, ability, and interest of individuals served. Oversee individual program/treatment plans implemented by supported rehabilitative staff.
  • Design community reintegration activities to assist individuals served with their vocational needs during physical activity. Assist individuals served in understanding their various needs and limitations and how to manage them during function.
  • Provide training to the individual served and, as appropriate, all others involved in their rehabilitation. Analyze and document the results of any training.
  • Perform thorough evaluations, assessing the needs of the individual served, and set measurable objectives formulated in conjunction with the rehabilitation team. Adjust treatment to achieve maximum results.
  • Apply professional knowledge and skills in accordance with accepted standards of clinical practice to facilitate problem resolution and the achievement of individualized goals and outcomes for the person served.
  • Report progress to rehabilitation staff, the individual served, and family members.
  • Observe, document, and report changes in the condition of the individual served to the Clinical Coordinator/designee, attending physician, and other treatment team members as appropriate.
  • Provide treatment progress and status documentation in accordance with the Plan of Treatment.
  • Participate in the team process, provide input, and contribute effective treatment strategies. Attend case conferences and family educational meetings.
  • Develop, teach, and assess the plan of treatment. Guide the Rehabilitation Specialist/Certified Nursing Assistant in fulfilling the plan. Use appropriate methods and tools in all teaching and training activities, including those associated with discharge.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct regarding confidential information. Share information only when the recipient’s right to access is clearly established and the sharing of such information is clearly in the best interest of the person served.
  • Collect and document items necessary for the organization to complete a thorough and effective program evaluation and program improvement.
  • Attend, participate in, and/or conduct internal staff development programs, and obtain continuing education as required by Company policy and regulations. Maintain and enhance clinical practice skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in response to the needs of the person served, office, and/or program.
