About The Position

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides safe, effective anesthesia care across all phases of the perioperative process, including pre-anesthetic evaluation, induction, maintenance, emergence, and post-anesthetic recovery. This role supports patient care, clinic safety, equipment readiness, documentation standards, and the clinical workflow of the surgical clinic. This is a PRN [as needed] position.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited RN school of nursing.
  • Current and active North Carolina RN license.
  • Current North Carolina Board of Nursing verification of Certification or Re-Certification as a Nurse Anesthetist.
  • Demonstrated experience administering anesthesia and anesthesia-related care in the four major categories: Pre-Anesthetic Preparation and Evaluation, Anesthetic Induction, Maintenance, and Emergency Care, Post-Anesthetic Care, Peri-Anesthetic and Clinical Support Functions (respiratory/ventilatory care, CPR, management of blood/fluid/electrolyte balance).
  • Current BLS (Required)
  • Current ACLS & PALS (Required)
  • Strong computer proficiency and EMR documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document complete pre-anesthetic evaluations, including medication review, consents, and patient education.
  • Provide safe anesthesia administration for in-office procedures ordered by the physician and per PSC policy, including induction, maintenance, monitoring, and emergence.
  • Monitor and assess patients before, during, and after anesthesia, documenting medications and patient responses.
  • Initiate emergency interventions as needed and assist staff with safe patient transfers.
  • Ensure all anesthesia equipment is functional and properly prepared before procedures.
  • Check all medications and supplies for expiration prior to use.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking anesthesia-related supplies.
  • Report equipment issues promptly.
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, universal precautions, and all clinic policies.
  • Maintain competency with anesthesia equipment, procedures, and required certifications.
  • Attend required educational meetings, in-services, and competency validations.
  • Comply with clinic dress code and documentation standards.
  • Accurately document all encounters, assessments, anesthesia events, and patient education.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, RNs, and clinic staff to ensure coordinated, efficient patient care.
  • Record anesthesia supply needs after each case to support timely, cost-effective ordering and reduce rush shipments.
