About The Position

Compass Intervention Center is seeking a dynamic and talented Certified Recreational Therapist for their Acute Hospital. The mission is to provide superior behavioral healthcare services that patients recommend, physicians choose, purchasers select, and employees are proud of. The Certified Recreational Therapist is responsible for assessing client’s leisure and recreational activities, providing age and developmentally appropriate therapy groups, and establishing behavioral treatment goals consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Compass Intervention Center. This role involves creating a safe environment for clients, providing direct supervision, empowering clients, and teaching new coping tools.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Sports Management, Leisure Management, Recreational Therapy or other related field
Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) required
One year experience in working with a mental health population

Nice To Haves

Activity Therapy experience
Knowledge of group leadership skills, age specific growth and development, crisis and behavior management

Responsibilities

Assess client’s leisure and recreational activities
Provide age and developmentally appropriate therapy groups
Establish behavioral treatment goals in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Compass Intervention Center
Create a safe environment for clients
Provide direct supervision of clients
Empower clients
Teach new tools for coping to clients
Demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to groups providing care to varied populations including, children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, chemical dependency or dually diagnosed clients in a residential treatment facility setting
