This is a limited-term position with an anticipated duration of approximately six months. The role involves collecting blood specimens, as well as receiving, handling, and processing specimens for Laboratory testing. The individual will interact with patients of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs, and behaviors. Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, and accessioning specimens, assigning them to the appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflow, and completing computerized tasks related to patient registration, test order entry, specimen collection, receiving, and processing. The role also includes performing basic post-analytic tasks such as distributing reports and storing/retrieving specimens. Quality-related tasks such as documentation, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and monitoring pending work are also key. The position requires operating basic pre-analytic lab equipment and adhering to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
