This is a limited-term position with an anticipated duration of approximately six months. The role involves collecting blood specimens, as well as receiving, handling, and processing specimens for Laboratory testing. The individual will interact with patients of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs, and behaviors. Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, and accessioning specimens, assigning them to the appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflow. The position also involves completing computerized tasks related to patient registration and/or test order entry, specimen collection, receiving, and processing. Basic post-analytic tasks such as distributing reports, storing and/or retrieving specimens are also part of the role. Quality-related tasks, including documentation of work, maintaining a clean, stocked, and safe work area, and monitoring pending work, as well as escalating priority work, are essential. The role requires operating and/or using basic pre-analytic lab equipment and adhering to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
