Requirements

  • Certificate of CPT 1 in the State of California.
  • BCLS upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year clinical laboratory experience preferred, but new graduate acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Follow CA Codes (bpc: 1246); (CCR 1034) to work in the laboratory.
  • Collect samples for analysis in the clinical laboratory under the supervision of a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
  • Perform computer entry, filing, telephone communication and other clerical duties.
  • Work alone or in various size groups on any shift on any day of the week under direct supervision of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
  • Demonstrate adequate knowledge of the usual terminology of tests ordered in the laboratory.
  • Demonstrate good telephone etiquette and be able to greet patients and other visitors in a polite and friendly manner.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge of phlebotomy and the equipment used in collecting specimens from newborns to geriatric patients.
  • Process microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank specimens.
  • Process specimens for reference laboratory.
  • Stock and order routine supplies.
  • Keep storage areas, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers and collection areas clean.
  • Be able to move throughout the facility without assistance and perform blood collection in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Process or place specimens on laboratory instrumentation in accordance with established policy and procedures.
  • Complete special projects or other assignments in a specified timeframe.
