About The Position

Oakwood Village has an exciting opportunity for qualified candidates to join our team as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. The Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting pharmacists in the technical/clerical aspects of medication distribution, medication monitoring, and data processing in the pharmacy department. Requirements

  • Demonstrates proficiency in completing clerical/technical duties such as typing, filing and phones.
  • Respects confidential nature of resident information and adheres to all HIPAA laws.
  • Provides positive interaction with residents, families, Oakwood staff, and the community, as manifested in attire, language and friendly attitude.
  • Performs physical tasks requiring physical coordination and manual dexterity due to the accuracy of many assignments.
  • Certification through Certified Pharmacy Technician Board required.
  • High school education or equivalent required with a developed skill background in reading, writing, mathematics and written/verbal communication.
  • 3-5 years’ experience required in a pharmacy setting.
  • Must be willing to travel to both locations in Madison as business dictates.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 a plus.
  • Experience with automated strip packaging dispensing a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Fills resident and inter-departmental orders.
  • Procures medications, prepares quantity, labels medications, and delivers supplies to the nursing units or apartments all under the supervision and final check of the pharmacists.
  • Prepares compliance packages of medications (punch cards or similar devices) for assisted living residents and preparing unit dose carts for the nursing home.
  • Maintains contingency drug supplies in assisted living units and nursing home including replacing and auditing all medications for expired or missing drugs.
  • Purchases drugs from the wholesaler and returns items to the wholesaler as well as monitoring drug recalls.
  • Maintains adequate drug and supply inventories by checking in items, stocking shelves, unit dose packaging bulk drugs, and replenishing stock at the fill areas.
  • Makes rounds to the nursing units and apartments to pick-up new orders or items returned and to deliver supplies and prescriptions.
