About The Position

Works under general supervision. Follows standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. May assist in orienting and training employees. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, responsible for filling and finalizing orders, including sterile compounding, prior to final verification. Also facilitating the shipment or delivery of medications to patients and providers.

Requirements

  • Must be available, and on-time for scheduled work shifts.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as required.
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
  • Current CPR certification if involved with direct patient care
  • Experience in a customer service related field
  • 3-6 months’ experience as a pharmacy technician
  • Limited lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Broad knowledge of medications, physician orders, and pharmacy systems
  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Excellent computer and keyboarding skills

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmacy Technician or related certification (some states require a pharmacy technician certificate or license/registration)
  • IV infusion experience/education is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medication orders for final review by a pharmacist
  • Responsible for the proper and accurate filling of each individual order, along with accurate record retention and documentation
  • Maintain the compounding area and equipment, including routine cleaning
  • Assist in maintaining federal, state and local laws, accrediting body standards, and Policies and Procedures (P&Ps)
  • Perform IV admixtures, sterility testing, and quality control in accordance with policy, maintain appropriate documentation
  • Prepare sterile parenteral compounds following appropriate protocol and aseptic technique, obtaining required checks by pharmacists
  • Maintain and keep reasonable production as determined by supervisor
  • Prepare refrigerated and non-refrigerated shipments for UPS and FedEx daily
  • Assist in preparation of packaging for shipments
  • Order, receive, and store medications/supplies while ensuring appropriate stocking levels in pharmacy
  • Perform physical inventories according to P&Ps
  • Maintain and track DME and other equipment including cleaning and calibration activities
  • Participate in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance activities, education programs, and department/branch meetings
  • Maintain a professional and clean appearance in pharmacy always
  • May assist in orienting and training new employees
  • Responsible for completing all mandatory and regulatory training programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
