About The Position

Vanderbilt University Hospital is hiring a Certified Pharmacy Technician for its Inpatient Central Pharmacy. The role performs pharmacy tasks in direct support of pharmacists, with occasional guidance and direct pharmacist supervision. Duties contribute to preparing, dispensing, and distributing medications and include customer service, inventory control, operating computer systems, and using pharmacy technology. The position offers cross-training across pharmacy operations, including central pharmacy workflows, medication delivery to Omnicell systems, sterile product preparation, and support for OR pharmacy. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with a rotation every third weekend. Certification through either PTCB or NHA is required for consideration. Shift differentials provide an opportunity to earn extra income. The role follows applicable federal, state, and local regulations and hospital policies.

Requirements

Certified Pharmacy Technician certification through either PTCB or NHA is required for consideration.
Tennessee pharmacy technician license is listed among the position certifications.
Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
Relevant work experience; experience level is listed as less than one year.

Responsibilities

Assist pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and/or distribution of medications.
Apply departmental processes regarding inventory control.
Perform activities as directed by pharmacists and/or pharmacy managers in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers, including answering phone requests and routing calls when unable to provide the requested information.
Operate computer systems and use technology.
Cross-train across pharmacy operations, including central pharmacy workflows, medication delivery to Omnicell systems, sterile product preparation, and OR pharmacy support.
