About The Position

Works in a fast-paced production environment known as an automated Central Fill Pharmacy. Assist pharmacists in the accurate preparation and distribution of prescription medications. This position frequently involves a fast work pace in a production setting. Must be able to handle multiple tasks on a daily basis. Maintains the confidentiality of the customer’s private medical information according to the HIPAA act.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified as a licensed technician through a certified national program and maintains continuing education requirements to keep license active.
  • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction, field of vision, and color vision.
  • Must be able to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, reaching, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Commitment to the Hy-Vee Mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company
  • Strong leadership skills; ability to assist other members of the department.
  • Must have the ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems; several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, assisting in the preparation of accurate prescriptions.
  • Must be able to compose original correspondence; follow technical manuals; have increased contact with people; interview counsel or advise people; evaluate technical data.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works with co-workers as a team to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies
  • Handles inquiries that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise and judgment.
  • Assists in developing standard operating procedures
  • Prepares and affixes labels to prescription containers
  • Assists in training employees
  • Assists in adherence to quality assurance standards
  • Gain complete understanding of Hy-Vee’s retail pharmacy operations and, offering avenues to better serve them
  • Reports any medication errors to appropriate personnel
  • Orders, checks-in, and stocks pharmacy supplies
  • Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area
  • Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
  • Adheres to all statutes and regulations pertaining to a pharmacy technician
  • Reports to work when scheduled and works expected number of hours
  • Performs mail order call center duties including data entry to prepare prescription orders
  • Manually counts medication quantities and replenishes medication cells as needed
  • Replaces empty medication cells and brings full cells to robots
  • Assists in areas as needed
  • Performs other related job duties and special projects as required
  • Assist in stocking of pharmacy supplies
