About The Position

Wellstar is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to join their team on a PRN basis for various retail pharmacy locations. This role involves assisting pharmacists in providing quality pharmaceutical care by performing technical duties. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of a Pharmacist and contribute to a mission of enhancing the health and well-being of every person served. Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED Diploma from an accredited program.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certification.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician certification.
  • Licensed by the State of Georgia.
  • Exposure/experience in all phases of retail pharmacy operations.
  • Experience in a retail pharmacy setting including exposure to retail pharmacy operations, data entry into pharmacy software system, purchasing/inventory control, controlled substance documentation, data intake from customers, and good customer service skills.
  • Minimal typing skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacists in providing quality pharmaceutical care to all patients by performing technical duties in the pharmacy department, working under the supervision of the Pharmacist.
  • Retrieve prescription orders, count, pour, measure and weigh tablets and medications, mix medications, select the proper prescription container, and create prescription labels.
  • Maintain patient profiles, complete cash register transactions, answer phones, and take inventory of over-the-counter medications.
  • Stay aware of the latest medicines and their availability.
  • Acquire necessary information to properly fill prescriptions, ensuring thoroughness in obtaining all legally required data.
  • Utilize existing computer software programs to aid in processing prescriptions, including dealing with third-party payers and solving issues related to electronic adjudication.
  • Accurately record prescriptions dispensed and contact physicians and benefits providers as necessary.
  • Complete third-party insurance forms and other paperwork.
  • Complete cash transactions with customers using POS equipment, credit card processing machines, and cash transactions.
  • Run end-of-day reports from the POS cash register and perform proper business closing procedures.
  • Handle telephone transactions courteously and represent the business well over the phone.
  • Provide a professional and confidential environment for customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal and State rules and regulations pertaining to the scope of practice of a retail pharmacy.
  • Inventory and stock prescription and over-the-counter medications and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Generate reports from the pharmacy computer system.
  • Prepare/compound ointments, creams, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
