Certified Pharmacy Technician (PRN / Rotating) - Pharmacy - Mount Carmel St. Ann's
About The Position
Mount Carmel is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to help cover open shifts and PTO coverage. This position offers scheduling flexibility and the opportunity to be part of a collaborative, patient-focused team. The Certified Pharmacy Tech will assist the pharmacist in assuring timely and accurate provision of medications to patients. Technician responsibilities are performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. These functions may include unit dose dispensing, sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding, medication packaging, inventory control, record keeping and billing, and use of equipment and automated technology.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification.
- Active registration as a Certified Tech with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
- Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred
- Effective Communication Skills
- Aptitude in mathematical manipulations (ratios, proportions, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions).
- A desire to career build, with ambition to elevate their working pharmacy knowledge to the extent of their Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification
Responsibilities
- Preparation of sterile products (including chemotherapy) using aseptic technique, in compliance with regulatory standards
- Preparation of non-sterile products (including hazardous medication), in compliance with regulatory standards
- Repackaging of bulk oral medication using our Parata Systems and Medical Packaging Inc robots
- Facilitating medication dispensing via Automated Dispensing Cabinets on our patient care units
- Assists in the dispensing of orders/prescriptions through our pharmacy inventory system
- Assists in inventory control by processing our daily Pharmacy Department order; assuring proper stock rotation, storage and appropriate expiration dating. Escalates medication and non-medication orders to the Purchasing Team
- Assists the department with proper billing of patients and other units
