About The Position

Coming Soon to Chesterfield! Located at 10031 Nash Road, VCU Health Chesterfield Pavilion will be a four-story, approximately 100,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center and medical office building, bringing comprehensive, patient-centered outpatient care closer to residents in one of Virginia’s largest counties. Scheduled to open in April 2027, the state-of-the-art facility will bring together surgical services, diagnostics, infusion therapy, pharmacy services, innovative care models, and more in a single, convenient location for Chesterfield residents. We are hiring team members now to help build the future of outpatient care from the ground up in one of Virginia’s fastest-growing communities. The Certified Pharmacy Technician aids pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care services to patients by assisting in the preparation, dispensing, record keeping, and transporting of medications for all patients including the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescence, adult, and geriatric. Under minimal supervision, this role performs the required duties of a technician at a high level of proficiency, demonstrating exemplary work behaviors and ownership for the success of the work area. This position also learns, performs and completes assignments/responsibilities assigned during the transitional duty period.

Requirements

Virginia Board of Pharmacy registration is required.
Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (EXCPT), is required within 6 months of employment.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Performs the required duties of a technician at a high level of proficiency, demonstrating exemplary work behaviors and ownership for the success of the work area.
Learns, performs and completes assignments/responsibilities assigned during the transitional duty period.
Performs tasks designated by the pharmacist to assist in patient care that do not legally require a pharmacist’s supervision or verification.
Communicates effectively with all staff members.
Identifies equipment or operational problems and brings them to the attention of a pharmacist or pharmacy manager.
Interacts with other health care practitioners in a multidisciplinary environment.
