About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining pharmacy systems and technology, including inventory systems and automated medication counting machines, to ensure accurate data and compliance with policies. The role involves monitoring inventory levels, calibrating machines, and troubleshooting issues to ensure medications are continuously replenished. The technician will also maintain and track medication inventory, support facility operations with reporting and paperwork, and ensure the fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions in an automated central fill pharmacy to maintain a consistent workflow and meet production goals. Additionally, the role requires maintaining the quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory, complying with company policies and standards, and completing work assignments effectively. Requirements

  • Meets state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, such as minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Holds an active/valid national certification certificate issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains pharmacy systems and technology, such as inventory systems and automated medication counting machines, by preparing records and reports to ensure accurate data and system compliance.
  • Monitors inventory levels and expiration dates for pharmaceuticals, calibrates machines, and applies settings to minimize breakage.
  • Ensures medications are continuously replenished by utilizing computer and scanner screens and troubleshooting pill cell issues.
  • Maintains and tracks medication inventory by sorting, storing, and restocking freight in appropriate locations.
  • Reports low stock levels and ensures stock rotation on a first-in, first-out basis.
  • Performs inventory cycle counts and assists with physical inventory counts.
  • Supports facility with reporting and paperwork by entering and modifying pharmaceutical data, processing paperwork, and creating documentation.
  • Identifies and resolves discrepancies in records or files and prepares reports of pharmacy activities and inventory.
  • Promotes the pharmacy's professional reputation and delivers pharmacy products and services in accordance with laws and policies.
  • Assists the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process, stocking and rotating merchandise, and handling claims and returns.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Ensures fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions in an automated central fill pharmacy to maintain a continuous and consistent workflow.
  • Uses a scanner to identify and select pharmaceutical product and quantity for prescription orders.
  • Verifies the size and strength of the product before processing orders.
  • Enters expiration dates and lot numbers, and labels prescriptions.
  • Weighs medication for accuracy of quantity, counts or pours medication for prescription orders.
  • Prepares packages and distributes medications in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Replenishes automated counting machines.
  • Maintains quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory by utilizing automated inventory control scanner and system.
  • Ensures adherence to and documentation of inventory control procedures.
  • Audits and tests pill cell performance per prescribed schedule and procedures.
  • Manages pill cell information database and troubleshoots issues with pill cell performance.
  • Identifies and properly discards hazardous waste and processes recalled and expired pharmaceuticals.
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources.
  • Collaborates with managers, coworkers, customers, and other business partners.
