Organization: Pharmacy Inpt Narc Room Job Summary: Performs tasks within the pharmacy in direct support of the ongoing duties and responsibilities of a pharmacist with occasional guidance. Tasks performed contribute directly to the preparation and/or dispensing of a final dosage form for administration to a patient and are directly supervised by a pharmacist. Provides customer service by answering phone requests and triaging calls to the appropriate person if they cannot answer the requested information. Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control. Position Highlights Position is located at Vanderbilt University Hospital Inpatient Central Pharmacy. Shift hours are Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm. Every 4th weekend rotation both Saturday and Sunday. Responsibilities include placing and receiving orders, inventory, and dispensing narcotic medication. Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician through either PTCB or NHA in order to be considered.

Requirements

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician through either PTCB or NHA.
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program.
  • Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications, specifically narcotic medication.
  • Manage inventory control, including placing and receiving orders for medications.
  • Provide customer service by handling phone requests and triaging calls.
  • Operate computer systems and utilize technology relevant to pharmacy operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
  • Maintain accurate drug inventory and records.
  • Solve routine problems and apply established procedures.
  • Provide guidance to entry-level co-workers.
  • Commit to continuous quality improvement and safety.
