About The Position

Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, this role is responsible for various tasks in the Outpatient Pharmacy. Key duties include data entry, prescription preparation (counting and labeling), inventory management (ordering, returning overstocks, managing in-date pharmaceuticals), maintaining current retail prices through electronic updates, and operating the Point of Sale register. The position also involves patient communication regarding medication therapies, collaborating with pharmacists on DURs and allergies, providing customer service, problem-solving, maintaining professional competency, and supporting performance improvement initiatives. Additional job-related duties may be requested by pharmacy management.

Requirements

  • Registered with the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy as a technician
  • Basic typing skills
  • Working knowledge of computers and equipment utilized in the preparation, dispensing and distribution of pharmaceutical products

Nice To Haves

  • Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
  • Registered in good standing as a "State Certified Pharmacy Technician" with the SC Board of Pharmacy
  • If not currently certified, certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Data entry

  • Daily ordering on WAC and 340B accounts
  • Returning overstocks and outdates
  • Performing clerical functions in the Outpatient Pharmacy
  • Weekly controlled substance count
  • Maintaining current retail prices through daily electronic price updates
  • Proper use of the Point of Sale register
  • Balancing the cash register daily
  • Communication of pertinent information to patients regarding medication therapies
  • Consulting with the pharmacist on DURs and allergies
