About The Position
The Certified Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists by preparing and dispensing medications, including sterile IVs, chemotherapy, and unit-dose drugs. The role helps manage medication inventory across patient care areas, maintains automated dispensing systems, and supports compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Certified Pharmacy Technicians contribute to patient safety by verifying orders, helping prevent errors, and ensuring timely delivery of critical medications. This is a full-time, day-shift position at Dallas Medical Center in Farmers Branch, Texas. Shifts are eight hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- State Pharmacy Technician license or registration, if required by state regulations.
Nice To Haves
- Previous pharmacy technician experience.
- Graduation from an ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program.
- 340B program experience, if working at a 340B facility.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications, including unit-dose drugs, IV admixtures, and chemotherapy, and operate automated dispensing cabinets.
- Manage inventory across nursing units, crash carts, and automated systems; handle controlled substances and monitor expiration dates.
- Enter and verify medication orders in hospital EMR systems for accuracy of dosage, form, route, and frequency.
- Support patient safety by checking labels, assisting with medication reconciliation, delivering medications, and preparing drugs for specialized populations.
- Comply with USP standards and maintain regulatory documentation.
- Take on specialized duties such as IV compounding, clinical support, or lead technician responsibilities.
