Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification
  • BLS Certificate from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Registered with NC Board of Pharmacy as a Technician within 30 days of employment and then annually.
  • 340B University for Health Centers Certification (within 90 days)
  • Medicare Parts C & D General Compliance Training and Combating Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (within 90 days, and then annually)

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmacy Experience (Preferred)
  • Bilingual (Highly Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Enters (new and refill) prescription orders in the computer to include:
  • Upon receipt of the prescription check for insurance (Medicaid-obtain card), drug allergies, check for duplicate discount with Medicaid
  • Alerts the pharmacist if any drug allergies are known and enter into the computer
  • Alerts the pharmacist if any drug-drug interactions arise
  • Enters and charges insurance prescriptions properly
  • Enters and charges all indigent patient programs
  • Sends medication requests to the provider if patient is out of refills.
  • Enters all prescription information in pharmacy system.
  • Corrects insurance information if prescription is rejected.
  • Fills prescriptions accurately, counts and labels all medications before pharmacist checks. Contacts provider, if needed.
  • Completes patient assistance applications and follows up on refills.
  • Maintains reports of patient assistance medications.
  • Forward faxes to appropriate department.
  • Assist in all aspects of mailing prescription via UPS.
  • Calls patients to arrange for home delivery of medications
  • Calls patients with upcoming refills due to facilitate processing of refills
  • Responsible for balancing and closing out cash drawers. Preparing end of day reports (QS1 POS), while maintaining a cash drawer with adequate change to operate. Includes daily balancing cash and reports for submission to finance department.
  • Present Eagle Excellence Service always.
  • Assist ADAP patients
  • Answer phone calls
  • Translate, when needed.
  • Monitors patient and visitor traffic during clinic hours and greets all patients in pharmacy area.
  • Reorders low stock
  • Sign in orders: checks quantities, prices and expiration dates, files all paperwork properly, separates files for Controlled Substances receipts, updates acquisition prices in the computer
  • Maintains office supplies: orders from proper places using proper forms.
  • Files filled prescriptions daily in numerical order.
  • Assists with promoting the collaboration for the patient’s continuum of care with all members of the PCHH Care Team.
  • Maintains Continuing Education credits as required by the NC Board of Pharmacy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
