About The Position

The Certified Personal Trainer (PRN) - Evenings position at Gibson Elite is a part-time role responsible for providing personalized training to individuals based on their needs and goals through a variety of athletically functional activities. The role involves maintaining national certification, managing client relationships, ensuring a safe and orderly work environment, and completing administrative tasks. The position reports to the Director of Elite Sport and Fitness and requires flexibility in working hours to accommodate client availability, including evenings and potentially weekends.

Requirements

  • Must have the physical strength to perform lifting tasks: Floor to waist - 50 pounds, 14” to waist - 50 pounds, Waist to shoulder - 35 pounds, Shoulder to overhead - 20 pounds, Carry 45 pounds for 30 feet, Push 50 pounds/force for 30 feet, Pull 50 pounds/force for 30 feet.
  • A certification in the Personal Training field is required.
  • Emotional stability conducive to dealing with moderately stressful situations, and effective working relationships with customers, peers, department and organizational leadership, physicians and other health care providers.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with department clients, hospital and department staff.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word, keyboard and mouse.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors in science is preferred, but not required.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification recommended, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized training in accordance with individuals needs and goals through a variety of athletically functional activities.
  • Maintain nationally recognized certification (Ex: CSCS, CPT, PES, CES) and complete required continuing education units.
  • Receive and convey messages appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide courteous, cooperative services to patients, visitors, and staff, demonstrating good communication skills.
  • Recognize and manage any potential health risks or barriers to exercise upon evaluation.
  • Report all incidents, equipment malfunctions, and program-related issues to the department director.
  • Assist in performing various clerical functions, such as filing charts, making copies, and faxing.
  • Assist in maintaining an orderly, sanitized, and safe work environment, including maintaining required cleaning records.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate literature and attending conferences/in-services.
  • Accurately complete processes for new patients, including accurate registration information.
  • Complete required/requested tasks in a timely manner and without prompting.
  • Participate in the Sport and Fitness improvement activities of the department.
  • Perform work within specified time frames and adapt positively to frequent changes and interruptions in workload and/or work schedules.
  • Adhere to department policies and procedures.
  • Use time efficiently and productively to enhance department operations and success.
  • Complete all competency/skills assessments and training as required.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with the organizational attendance policy and use of the electronic timekeeping system.
  • Comply with dress code.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, Elite Sport and Fitness team, department peers, and directors, including responding to phone calls, emails, and text meetings daily.
