About The Position

The City and County of Denver’s Department of Parks and Recreation's (DPR) Fitness Division is seeking passionate Certified Personal Trainers to inspire, motivate, and guide our community members toward healthier, more vibrant lives. Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement.
  • Certification as an instructor and/or trainer in yoga, step aerobics, kick boxing, boot camp, hip-hop, interval training, sports performance, strength training, Pilates, Zumba, indoor cycling, core conditioning or any fitness area by a nationally recognized organization.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Certification as an instructor in any fitness area by a nationally recognized organization at the time of application.
  • Active, accredited personal training certifications and CPR.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Personal Trainer certification issued by a nationally recognized, accredited fitness organization (such as NASM, NSCA, ACE, or ACSM).
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Ability to conduct movement assessments, teach sound exercise mechanics, and design safe progressions tailored to individual goals and fitness levels.
  • Ability to effectively lead fitness classes or small group formats in addition to one-on-one personal training sessions.
  • Ability to actively welcome feedback, build strong client relationships, and address participant questions with an approachable, professional attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Individualized and Group Programming: Design and execute safe, goal-oriented exercise programs for one-on-one clients, small groups, and large group classes.
  • Assess and Track Clients: Conduct professional fitness consultations, baseline movement assessments, and goal-setting sessions while keeping all client progress files updated.
  • Coach Safely and Adapt: Provide clear movement demonstrations, technical cues, and modifications to accommodate varying fitness levels, with a focus on proper alignment and injury prevention.
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Serve as an approachable, helpful resource for center patrons, actively welcoming feedback and handling inquiries with a positive attitude.
  • Maintain Space and Equipment: Take care of the training areas and fitness gear by tracking inventory, returning items to designated storage, and keeping the space clean and organized.
  • Manage Your Schedule: Maintain consistent availability for client bookings across preferred shifts (mornings, evenings, and/or weekends) and accurately log tracking metrics.
  • Uphold Professional Standards: Maintain active, accredited personal training certifications and CPR, and uphold all operational expectations stated in the employee manual.
  • Handle Incidents: Immediately report any facility damage, client injuries, or safety issues to site staff and coordinators.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
