About The Position

Touchmark at Meadow Lake Village, a leading resort-style retirement community, is seeking a wellness-obsessed individual to join their team as a Personal Trainer - Group Exercise Instructor for their Health and Fitness Club. The role involves enriching residents' lives by assisting, monitoring, and instructing them in the safe and effective use of equipment to meet their fitness goals. This includes conducting fitness consultations and assessments to develop individualized fitness programs, ensuring resident safety and adherence to care plans. The position also requires promoting and selling training services, conducting club tours for potential members, and explaining membership benefits to build a client base. The Health and Fitness Club serves Touchmark residents and community members aged 50 and over, offering tailored programs and amenities like an indoor heated pool, group exercise studio, one-on-one personal training, and a fully-equipped fitness studio.

Requirements

  • Current personal training certification through a NCCA accredited organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an exercise science-related discipline or equivalent work experience in personal training older adults/seniors, corrective exercise and associated certifications, as deemed appropriate by HR.
  • At least five years’ experience working as a Certified Personal Trainer or Exercise Physiologist.
  • At least five years’ experience working with a mature population.
  • Experience instructing group exercise classes in the format their certification is in.
  • Experience instructing yoga, both chair & mat.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification, or be willing to obtain upon hire.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and basic office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting, monitoring, and instructing residents in the safe and effective use of equipment and weight machines.
  • Conducting fitness consultations and assessments to develop individualized fitness programs.
  • Ensuring resident safety and adherence to each resident's care plan.

  • Conducting club tours for potential members, residents, and guests.

  • Instructing group exercise classes.

  • Handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Maintaining patient and tactful composure when dealing with residents, family members, staff members, and visitors.
